Evaluation
This is my evaluation of thriller opening that I and my group have produced. In the evaluation I will be assessing how I think the opening sequence has gone.
Question 1:
the mise en scene of these two screen shots are very similar because of their use of makeup (both have writing written on their face) the shots are also of a similar composition with the girl lying on the floor died. The images also both portray death.
The bottles in these pictures represent different things while the ones in Ginger snaps shows the victim using the bottles to achieve committing suicide the use of the bottle in vanity’s bitch shows the bottles used by the killer to achieve her on goal of suicide.
The colours used in these shots are both very dissimilar. Vanity’s bitch filters out most of the colour to portray “m
emory’s” Ginger snaps uses a red filter to take full advantage of the horrific nature of the shot.
The credits used in these clips have very similar fonts through their use of Serif fonts.
The filters in these scene shots are used to portray similar feeling of death though vanity’s bitch shows it through a dolls head and Ginger snaps
shows it through a human body.
The darkness shown in these two shots gives the effect of a sinister dark meaning.
Both of these close up screen shots uses paper as a prop to show their insanity and child like mentality.
Question 2
The main character in this thriller is a stereotypical teenage girl who likes to make construct herself up and this is shown with props such as the beauty table and make-up, she is also very much a girly girl and this is shown with objects such as the dolls and the cloths she is wearing. The dolls also hint to her being OCD. The perfectionism is also hinted in other ways such as her doing her mascara till it’s perfect.

Question 3/4
If vanity’s bitch was released in the real world the film would probably be released in the smaller cinemas such as screen on the green in Islington. But may be play in bigger cinemas but would only be shown few cinemas and not be shown all the time similar to the release of Nowhere Boy which was only on at certain times of the week.
To publicise the film we would probably use such mediums as making an internet viral on YouTube to try and get hyped over the internet another way over the internet is to use advertising on popular sites such as Facebook and Twitter or do what TV programs such as skins did and get the audience actively involved in the making of the film. Also local and maybe even national newspapers could be used to advertise as well. Potential sponsors for the film should be companies such as film London, film4 and the British film institute who are known for their support of film makers.
Question 5
Freya is a 17 year old student, and is training to be a TV presenter but currently works a dead end job at a supermarket. She loves socialising with mates and is always up for a laugh. Freya is always prepared for any eventuality whether its rain or that her lipstick needs a top up. She loves going to the cinema and epically loves to be scared to hell by thrillers and almost always ends up screaming!
Question 6
Final cut pro was a very important programs for us because not only did it help stringing the clips together it also helped in the further editing by adding filters and transitions which not only made the film run smoothly it also helped get the point of the film across.
Thanks to the use of soundtrack pro we were able to create appropriate music for the thriller.
LiveType was used so we could put in credits that look more professional than just using final cut pro or other credit making software.
Question 7:
Our skill have improved a lot over the course of the curriculum .as seen in the preliminary task are match cuts were very simple and the shot types weren’t the best either. But this helped us to learn a lot about how to use the equipment.
Question 8
We interviewed people who have watched the film to see what they thought of it. I found it was a great way to see what was good and what could have been improved it also was great to see if the audience it was made for found it interesting.
